Tēnā tātou e te whānau
We are so pleased to see the tamariki again today after our two weeks of non contact. It is always great to see their smiles and hear their laughter as they walk through the school gate.
Thank you for ensuring they have their correct uniform on and have had a good night sleep the night before school.
It's these simple things that make all the difference to how the kids perform each day.
We have a short term of just 9 weeks but we have packed in a few things for different areas of the school to cover and participate in. We would love as many parent helpers as we can get for each event or activity. Some trips may require parents to have a recent police check if they are overnight trips such as camp or Noho Marae.
Every Wednesday we will be having cross country training with a group of kids and certain classrooms down at the Domain (Weather permitting of course) in preparation for the Yr 7 & 8 Interschool's Cross Country event.
Next week are Parent/Teacher Conferences.

- School finishes early only on Tuesday 6th May at 1pm
- Please collect your children by 1pm Tuesday only, so we can start our conferences on time.
- Wednesday 7th May is a normal day.
- Bookings for whanau to meet with their child's teacher is available on the skoolLoop notice that went out last term (or see further down the newsletter on how to book a time with your child's teacher)
A questionnaire will be given sent out for you to complete before the conferences. This questionnaire is important and will be used to help support the conferences. A prize will be given to every class with 80% or more responses to this questionnaire!
Keep any eye on our school calendar, as this will be updated by tomorrow with all the events coming up for the term. This can be found on our Skool Loop App as well as the website.
Combined Te Awamutu Schools Teacher Only Day - IMPORTANT
Friday 13 June - School is closed for instruction on this day which means all children will not be able to attend onsite learning. Staff will be attending professional development on this day at the High school along with most other schools in this area.
Out of Zone Enrolments
We are currently at capacity for our role and we do not have any spaces for out of zone students this term as well as next term. The Board of Trustees will make a decision based on current roll numbers if we are able to accept any students closer to term 4.
UNIFORM - Long dresses
Whilst wearing a black skirt is appropriate, the length of the skirts that are starting to be worn are not always helpful for the type of activities students will do during the day. On days we have pōwhiri, then yes, a long skirt is definitely appropriate to wear but not after this if we are having any physical activity during the school day. It is preferred that skorts, shorts, plain black pants or tights be worn to allow for more movement.
If your child is unwell please keep them at home. This includes any cold or flu symptoms such as runny nose and coughing with phlegm.
We want our teachers not to be unwell this term as we are struggling to find relievers and have had to split classes at times. We do not want to get to the stage where we have to close classrooms because there is no one available to support or teach the classes.
Have a great rest of the term.
