Principal's Kōrero
Kia ora everyone,
Welcome back to the start of a new term.
We are always happy to see the tamariki after the short break and look forward to getting things started again with regards to the learning.
On Friday this week, you will receive your child's mid year school progress report. This report will inform you about how your child is tracking so far and in which of the curriculum levels your child is currently achieving in. We also provide a written statement comment from the teacher with regards to all aspects of your child's learning and general behaviour while at school. An insert will be provided alongside the report for you to understand which curriculum level your child is most likely to be positioned in according to their year group/age.
Please don't worry if your child isn't where you think they should be, as all children learn at a different rate and have different outcomes that are dependant on a lot of factors. These graphs are purely an indication of where students might/could be if they are in each of the year groups.
If your child has moved class this term, you will receive the report from the teacher they previously had in term 2.
When it comes to the parent interviews in Week 2, you will meet with your child's current teacher, not their previous term's teacher. There are no interview times available for students in Room 3 - these will be available at a later date when their regular teacher returns to school.
Please be aware, we are closing the school early on Tuesday only. This is to allow more time for interview slots to be offered. School will close at 1pm that day giving the teachers time to have lunch and then begin interviews at 1:30pm. Bus students can be accommodated but we would prefer all students to be collected as we lack space to support the students.
Questionnaire (Google Form) for interviews.
Because we like to be prepared for our conversations with you all, we have prepared a 4 question form that we ask you to fill out before the parent teacher interviews. This information will help your child's current teacher better understand what your priorities are for the rest of this year and how we can help your child better. The link will be sent out to you via skool loop, email and available here. If you would prefer a paper copy, please come to the office and request one - we are attempting to limit paper use in our school as part of environmental reasons.
Interview times will be available through the booking system. This will be sent separately.
There will be No school lunches NEXT Tuesday 30th July 2024, for parent teacher interviews due to early closure - bring morning tea or own lunch that day please.
We have the Kapa Haka Festival happening at the end of this term. As we are hosting this event this year with the support of all other schools in the area, we will asking for helpers on the day with some very special tasks. We really do need your help and would appreciate it if there was any times you might be able to offer us during the day when this event happens in Week 9 - Friday 20th September.

As our school is growing, we have had to create a new class for our English medium. So we now have a total of 10 classes running at present. Whaea Nikita is our newest teacher and is in Room 2. Please say hi, and help her to feel welcome when you see her next.
For the remainder of the term, please help your child turn up at school at their best. Ensuring they have had enough sleep at night is the best start we could ask for. When your child starts the day in a calm and happy manner, the rest of the day is usually a good day.
Have a wonderful rest of your week e te whānau.
